4th of July Mantel

This week marks the official beginning of summer!  As appropriate as it is for the 4th of July, I love red, white, and blue for all of the summer months.

Needless to say I couldn’t wait to decorate my mantel!  I usually don’t overhaul my decor to accommodate for holidays (not even Christmas!), I like to make a few new things and fit those in with the old, so you may recognize a few items on my 4th of July mantel.  I re-used the mason jars I made last year, and some of the same candle holders I used on my fall and winter mantels.

I added a wicker star that I had in my hallway.  The mirror, white lantern, wrought iron tea light holder, tall blue bottle (thrift store find!), and blue pillar candles are on the mantel year round.

The chevron wood plank flag was a fun craft I worked on this week, I will be sharing the tutorial on July 1, so be sure to come back for that!

The whimsical banner is my favorite part of the entire mantel by far {Check out the tutorial on my contributor post at   Ginger Snap Crafts}!

You may have guesses that I love all things blue, so this mantel works really well with living room decor!

These ‘no-sew’ pillows I showed you last week are directly across from the fireplace.

The rest of the room does have little punches of burnt orange and lime green as a contrast, but yeah pretty much the whole house is drenched in blues and cool tones.  I seriously should’ve named this blog ‘all things blue’, or something like that!

I am still working on getting the rest of the house summer ready, so I’ll share as I go!

Make sure to stop by Ginger Snap Crafts on June 21 for the banner tutorial, and back here on July 1 to see how I made the Chevron Plank Flag!

Have  you started decorating for summer yet?
