Point taken!
Since it’s already feeling like summer around here, I went ahead and skipped the rest of spring (cause I can if I want to, right?) and decided to use materials I already had to create a summer wreath in a style I’m loving right now, nautical!
Thought I’d share this thrifty summer wreath tutorial with my bloggy friends:
I had all the supplies in my closet so I spent $0 on this one–already starting summer off on the right foot!
I recycled this wreath form from Christmas, and wrapped every other section in white burlap remnants using a glue gun.
With some red sample paint (originally purchased for the baseball dresser project, then used to paint the stools with plenty left over), I dabbed the burlap using a foam brush.
When I peeled off the tape I put some of the jute twine through the holes and tied several knots (sailor’s knots…just kidding, I don’t know how to do that!) to keep the twine from slipping out.
After distressing the whole thing so that it looks like it’s been weathered by the sea (I try!) I hung both pieces up on my front door.
I layered them, but made sure not to adhere them to each other–I figured after the summer I could use the wood sign somewhere else in the house (another ‘H’!).

I love the burlap and twine combo! And the sign too. Very cute! I liked how you can use the wreath later on, I’ve never used the wire wreath form, I’ll have to give it a try!

Thanks! I used the wire form because it was on clearance during the holidays, and now I know it’s reusable! Thank you for the visit Kimberly!

So cute, Barbara! I really like the nautical look for summer {and it’s kind of patriotic too with the red and blue!} I like the burlap and jute combo, and the monogram too! Nicely done; thanks for entering One Crafty Contest! Good luck!
