You know the kind of quickie not as time consuming as it looks project where you’re just kickin’ back watching prime time t.v. and suddenly the urge strikes you to get up and get crafty??
Huh? Oh, it’s just me? Ahem, ok so a few weeks ago my urge to create turned a plain old block of wood into a LOVELY addition to my new and improved hallway gallery wall.
The hubs drives by this furniture store on his way home from work most days and on occasion stops and picks up some discarded-yet-evenly-cut-and perfectly smooth wood pieces for me (yes, I know– I’m keeping him!), so my garage looks like this:
I know it’s dark–we didn’t splurge on lighting in our garage! |
Needless to say I have enough wood to keep a small village warm. For years. After spraying the block with black paint (Krylon!) I decided to try a new method I’d found on Pinterest (to which my heart totally belongs!) to create sign lettering. Curious? You’re gonna love this!!! It’s CHALK!! I almost fell off my hypothetical rocker when I read about it–I just HAD to try it!
Printed the wording on regular computer paper:
I had originally tried this on metal before I remembered the stock pile of wood sitting the the garage |
Make sure to lightly wipe the chalk dust off before painting! |
Then I just took a paint pen and filled it all in:
Looks MUCH better on the wood wouldn’t you agree?! |
Why, yes..I do LOVE! |
