There’s a new store in town and it’s got all us Socal types in a tizzy. We love our organic and gluten-free items, but sometimes the prices are downright prohibitive. That’s one of the reasons this Californian tends to shy away from those with few exceptions, although I know it’s better for us. The new store opened nearby and it promises high quality products at up to 50%* savings on the grocery bill, so I made a bee line and checked it out. ALDI has a different style when it comes to grocery shopping, shopping there is a breeze at this easy-to-shop food market.
*Based upon a price comparison of comparable products sold at leading national retail grocery stores.
All the internet buzz was right– I could not believe the selection and the prices were incredible. So much so that even my 8 year old noticed! Of course he had his eye on all the yummy treats on the shelves while I was searching for ingredients to make Spaghetti Pie, a recipe I’ve had on my mind for some time. Not to mention I needed to replenish my pantry with staples like bread, cereals, and even bath tissue and more.
This whole spread cost a total of $81.12. ALDI offers its SimplyNature® line including USDA Certified organic and Non-GMO verified items, liveGfree® gluten-free products, and USDA Choice meats and NeverAny!® products that are free from added antibiotics, hormones and animal by-products. All of these usually high ticket items are included in my haul, in addition to a 16 oz bottle of California Olive Ranch Extra Virgin Olive Oil, fresh fruit and more. All for around $80!
Ninety percent of the groceries ALDI sells are under its own ALDI-exclusive brands, which are tested on a regular basis to make sure they taste as good or better than national brands. I can confirm this personally because my resident cereal expert gave me two big thumbs up with cheeks full of cereal!
As a parent it’s clear that we only want to serve our families the best, high quality foods. Unfortunately, many grocery stores are so overpriced that makes it impossible to buy the utmost quality for our loved ones. I’m glad I found a store that values the consumer’s needs rather than focus on elaborate in-store product displays, flashy ads, or loyalty programs that likely drive up costs.

Hi Barbara, I did my shopping there today. Have been shopping Aldi exclusively for about 18 months now. I am in Florida and they are expanding rapidly here too.
