Gratitude Wreath
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays!
Although many tend to breeze by it in on their way from Halloween pumpkins to Christmas mistletoe, Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful for our blessings, and hopeful for a bountiful ‘harvest’. It’s the one time of year where you can eat without guilt, what’s not to love? I enjoy making holiday crafts to decorate my home for our gatherings, so this year I asked my family’s input and made a pretty little wreath to tell the world (or at least those coming over for dinner) what each one of us is thankful for.
How To Make a Gratitude Wreath
Make this wreath for your Thanksgiving feast:
Materials:
Foam wreath
1/4 yd. of jute twine
2-3 packages of fall embellishments
Hot glue gun/glue sticks
Plain gift tags (one for each member of your family)
Sharp scissors
Gold or silver Sharpie (thin)
Ribbon:
3 spools of thick ribbon in your choice of colors
1 spool of thick sack cloth ribbon
1 small spool of glitter yarn
Directions:
Cutting the ribbon in ¼ yd. strips, wrap each one around the wreath in an alternating fashion, securing with the hot glue. Once the entire wreath is wrapped in ribbon, start to decorate it. I decided to make a cluster of small fall ornaments on the front the of the wreath, feel free to experiment with where you want your embellishments to go.
DIY Ribbon Rosettes:
To flank the decorations I made little rosettes out of the sack cloth ribbon and glued one to each side of the cluster. To make these rosettes simply wrap the ribbon around your thumb, and gently pull it off. Then tug at the ends of each layer lightly until it starts to resemble a rose pattern.
While that is drying, decorate your tags! I chose to wrap mine in jute first, followed by a layer of glitter yarn. Add glue all around the tag, and place the jute and yarn over it to stay in place. Repeat this for all of the tags and in the center write what each member is thankful for. Hang each tag from the top center of the wreath with the glitter yarn, secure with glue.
Hang this up in your entry way, in the dining room, or wherever your guests will congregate at Thanksgiving. Now you have a cute interest piece that is sure to spark conversation at your feast!
Happy Thanksgiving!
