Happy Easter!
I tend not to do elaborate tablescapes for holidays, with the exception of Thanksgiving, I am pretty laid back about entertaining. I do however, like to change my centerpiece out with the seasons, so I’ve been working on this one for my dining table and finally set it up in a way I like. I drive myself and those around me nuts rearranging things, so this is kind of a big-ish deal for me.
Since tomorrow is a day many of us will have gatherings around our table, I thought I’d share a quick and easy mini-tutorial on how to make this centerpiece, which can carry you through Easter, spring, and beyond!
What you’ll need:
- A 2-3 ft wood garden planter (or if you’re feeling adventurous and have some time then you can make one with 2×4’s)
- Burlap (white or natural)
- Mason Jars (large and small)
- Twine
- White pillar candles in various sizes
- Flowers (optional)
I’ve been lucky to have the previous owners of my house leave behind a lot of stuff. Some I’ve gotten rid of, and some I’ve kept and re-vitalized. This planter is one of the latter. It was hanging on a wall outside with fake sunflowers sticking out of it (yes OUTSIDE, and yes FAKE!) . I used my Dawn and vinegar mixture to scrub it down, then hosed it off and let it dry completely. It was already white and naturally worn from the elements so I didn’t have to paint and distress it. SCORE! If you’re using a new or unpainted planter you can easily just add a light coat of white paint, let it dry and distress it with sandpaper.
Because this planter is pretty deep I had to lay white burlap on the bottom of it so it would prop up the jars and they’d show. I bought 2 boxes of mason jars, one with large and one with small, and wrapped the rims of the large jars with twine (brand new package of twine was left behind too, can you believe that?!). In total I used 6 large jars, and 4 small.
No hot glue needed just wrap around, tie and cut off excess. 2 minutes and done! I arranged them in the planter in a pattern I liked (this was were my dilemma lay!) and threw in some white pillar candles in various sizes. That was it!
If you have some time you can really get creative with what you put in the jars, in fact you can carry this one on to different seasons and decorate accordingly!
Super easy centerpiece that has dressed up my table for Easter, and more!
Have a blessed Easter!
