As a family we love to watch him play! He’s a great ballplayer; pitches, plays shortstop and 3rd base. Year after year he’s improving both physically and mentally. Not without failures, but he has held on to his passion, and continues to thrive.
Last season, I had a total Kleenex moment as he came in to pitch with the bases loaded and nobody out in a tie game. He got the last three outs, while striking out two batters and not allowing the other team to score. At our next at bat, our team had the game winning hit and we advanced to the playoffs!
He may or may not wind up in the big leagues someday, but no matter what, he always tries his best, keeps his head in the game, and his eye on the prize, and the ball. Every team fundraiser, snack shack duty, team Mom meeting, and practice drop off, is completely worth it, just to see him play, and to see my husband beam with pride as he watches his boy chase his dream.
We’re prepping our 4 year old to start his baseball ‘career’ this upcoming season. I better stock up onKleenex!

Us moms we get teary eyed with our kids’ accomplishments, don’t we? Mine (even a bit late since they’re 9 and 11) just started basket ball. I’m up for a lot of kleenex tissues!

Awww so sweet! Baseball isn’t very big here in Canada, but that’s the way we all feel about hockey… but I don’t have any boys! I do, however, have Stella, so who knows :)
Love your writing style here!!!

We are a hockey family (another Canadian, lol) but the underlying feelings are all the same and definitely bring tears to my eyes on occasion.

I love watching my three boys play sports even though I blame some of their close play-off games for my gray hairs. I also beam with pride as I watch them grow in each sport. Right now we are in the midst of football in Texas no less, so our first round of play-offs for my 8-year-old is this Saturday.
