Since we moved into our house last year we’ve discovered quite a few things that the previous owners have left behind. I know I’ve mentioned this here before, but it’s just so much stuff! And random at that! One of the things I overlooked during the garage sale we had early on was this rusty and very weathered little iron birdbath.
It’s lived in my garage for almost a year, until I pulled it out last week and placed it on our porch bistro set (also left behind). It blended right in with the rust spray paint color I’d painted the table.
It added a little bit of whimsy to our porch, so it started to grow on me.
I applied the mixture with a foam brush to cover the entire piece. Then dabbed (lightly) the whole thing with the green acrylic to create the ‘patina’ look.

Barbara, the color you ended up with is so perfect! The bird bath is so much better now! I’ll try to remember to come by and link up to your party this week if I get myself organized enough to get a post done. I just got back from a road trip and I’m a bit behind. Thanks for stopping by Quirky Vistas to comment and follow!
