Is it me or is this holiday season just flying by? Wasn’t it just Halloween? I find myself filling up my schedule so much that I don’t take the time to slow things down and really enjoy the season. I want to make more memories with my kids. I want to spend some time baking and crafting, and wrapping gifts by the fire.
Heck, I’d like to spend some time relaxing with a good cup of coffee and a delicious treat. The truth is I am a busy lady. With a family, a job, a blog, and more, I need to be more intentional about my relaxation time, because it really does go by too fast!
This weekend I took some time to make a tasty treat and enjoy it with a delicious cup of McCafé coffee-at home! I’m a big fan of McDonald’s coffee. Before it was common to pay $5 a cup at the trendy spots, McDonald’s was my drive thru staple every morning, at just a small fraction of the price.
When they began their McCafé line I was back at the drive thru, just about every morning! But now they did me one better, I can make it at home! Yup, behold…McDonald’s is now offering McCafé lovers their fave coffee at their local grocery store.
There are both ground and K-Cup® pods to choose from, so everyone is happy. Cause good coffee makes everyone happy!
McCafé is made with 100% Arabica beans, and comes in seven varieties including different roasts and blends, such as Premium Roast, French Roast, Breakfast Blend and Colombian, and different flavors, like French Vanilla and Hazelnut.
My absolute favorite is the Hazelnut. When I brewed it for the first time the whole house smelled like hazelnut. It was the perfect touch for my coffee sipping, cookie eating, doing nothing by a warm fire afternoon.
Earlier in the day I made a delicious Peppermint Dip to pair with my Hazelnut McCafé, and it.was.amazing! The perfect holiday pairing!
I’ve been so busy that I just didn’t have time to make Snickerdoodle cookies from scratch, so I picked some up at the store when I bought the ingredients for my Peppermint Dip.
The dip took all of 5 minutes to make, which is all I was willing to spare! Give it a try:
Ingredients
2 packages of cream cheese (softened)
16 oz. of vanilla yogurt
1 cup of powdered sugar
1 teaspoon of peppermint extract
2 peppermint candy canes (crushed)
Instructions
Blend everything together except the candy, with an electric mixer, until smooth. Fold in 3/4 of the candy, and top with the rest. Refrigerate until ready to serve or at least 15 minutes.
My afternoon of relaxation was short lived, as most are when you have children, but they got in on the cookie dipping fun too! The loved making Snickerdoodle Sandwiches with the Peppermint Dip!
If you are a busy mama constantly on the go, like I am, don’t forget to slow down from time to time, the holiday season can be hectic for most of us. Remember you will need to take time to recharge your batteries, so that you can be the best mom, wife, chauffer, coach, PTA member, etc., etc., you can be!
With McCafé at home and a fun 5 minute treat, you can do so with some time to spare. And don’t forget to make the Peppermint Dip! The family gets a yummy treat, and Mom gets her coffee–win-win for all!
‘Til next time friends!
