DIY Kitchen Wall Art

It’s almost time to start hosting a slew of parties and holiday events.  Is your home ready?  I just made pretty wall art for my kitchen, which will be the main gathering spot come party time this season.

Do you have a few old wooden spoons? Don’t toss them, repurpose them! It’s so easy to take regular household item like a wooden spoon, and turn it into pretty Kitchen Wall Art with just a few supplies.

Follow this easy tutorial to make your own!

Materials:

Wood plaques and several wooden spoons

If you don’t have extra spoons then pick some new ones up at Michaels, they are super inexpensive!  I bought 4 at Michaels and picked up 2 more in different sizes at the thrift store.

Chevron Shape Tape (Frog Tape)

Regular painter’s tape would work as well.

White acrylic paint

Sponge applicator

Strong adhesive (like E6000)

Spray paint or wood stain

Optional: Metallic Sharpie (silver, gold, or copper)

Directions:

Paint or stain the wood plaque, let dry. I chose a rich chocolate brown paint.

Add the shape tape (or painters tape) to the stems of the spoons, and paint the exposed parts in white.

Remove the tape and highlight the edges in the metallic Sharpie.

Add white paint to the edges of the plaques, and add some metallic arrows with the Sharpie if you like!

Optional: Go over the edges with light sand paper for a little distressing.

Glue the spoons on to the plaques in any pattern you like! I decided to use a diagonal pattern, and a straight across pattern. Allow the glue to dry fully and hang up your new Kitchen Wall Art!

The wood plaques should come with hanging hardware on the back.
