Game Day Party– Learn how to make an easy rustic DIY Appetizer Stand and Beverage Bucket, perfect for a Superbowl party or any other occasion!
One of my favorites days is almost upon us, SUPERBOWL SUNDAY! Bet ya didn’t peg me for a football fan, did ya? Well if that’s the case, you’re absolutely correct! But I do love me a fun party loaded with yummy food, good friends, and my fave, super funny commercials! The big game never disappoints. When it comes to food and drinks, I try to keep it low key and easy. I ask everyone to bring a drink and an appetizer to share. I will usually provide a beverage cooler, and simple finger foods such as the classic chips and salsa (cause you know, you can’t go wrong with chips and salsa, amiright?).
We aren’t fancy people by any means but I do like to set up a nice food table for gatherings. My guests appreciate a nice display, and I will admit that sometimes it gives those of us who can care less about the game something to talk about in between commercials! For this year’s big game I made an appetizer stand and beverage bucket with a few simple items from Michaels, and about 30 minutes of my time. Wha the wha?? Yup, these came together quickly and easily!
DIY RUSTIC APPETIZER STAND
Materials:
2 galvanized metal containers in varying sizes. These are from the seasonal spring aisle at Michaels.
Wooden pillar candle holder
E6000 glue (or any other strong glue–Michaels has an entire aisle dedicated to adhesives)
Directions:
Clean all items thoroughly.
Add glue to the base of the candle holder (where it’s wider) and press it firmly against the bottom of the smaller metal container. Add pressure for a few minutes until it sets slightly.
Add glue to the other side of the candle holder and press it firmly onto the center (top part) of the larger metal container. Allow to dry overnight.
Note: Place salsa in a bowl not directly onto metal appetizer stand
DIY BEVERAGE BUCKET
Materials:
Galvanized metal bucket (also in the seasonal spring section)
Brown felt (enough to wrap around the bucket one time)
White adhesive vinyl
Paper cutter
Hot glue gun, 1 glue stick
Directions:
Stretch the felt around the bucket as taut as possible, secure with hot glue. Cut the extra felt down and glue it under the bucket as flush as possible, so that your bucket can sit on a flat surface.
Using your paper cutter, cut a 6″ in length strip, about 1/2″ in width. Cut another 4 strips, this time 3″ in length, 1/2″ wide.
Peel the back off of the longest strip, and adhere it to the center of the bucket vertically.
Do the same for the smaller strips, placing these horizontally on the vertical strip, making it appear like stitches on a football.
Fun extra: Make some extra cuts (thinner this time) to add some ‘stitching’ to mugs or cups!
And now I’m ready for the big game in style! Visit Michaels.com for more DIY party inspiration!
