Whenever possible I like to take the kids out for a little fun, just the 3 of us, and we always have the best time! This week we had one of our ‘date nights’, with dinner ‘in’ followed by a movie. On a weeknight I don’t want to take too much time going out to dinner so I picked up a Tony’s Pizza at Walmart (with this coupon!) while the kids were at school, and surprised them with my plans. They were so excited!
Pizza was on the menu for today anyway, so it worked out perfectly!
After school they did their homework and played in the yard for a bit, then I had them wash up for a quick dinner before heading out. I popped a Tony’s Pepperoni Pizza in the oven and it was ready to eat in no time.
…and it was gone in no time too!
I threw some paper plates on the table, cut up a watermelon, sliced up the pizza, and dinner was done! Sometimes you need a break from it all, cooking, dishes, clean up, know what I mean? The pizza was yummy with an authentic pizzeria taste. Crispy crunchy crust, real cheese and sauce and made with real tomatoes. So far the night was perfect.
Still I’m a mother, so it’s my job to keep this house running and organized, even when I take the night ‘off’, so I planned it out ahead of time on my chalkboard.
Kitchen Chalkboard
Shortly after moving in I painted the side of our pantry with chalkboard paint to keep all sorts of important info. Memory verses for the kids, shopping lists, and recently a weekly dinner menu. I literally just painted over the existing cabinet paint with chalkboard paint and let it dry.
I rubbed chalk all over it to set the paint, wiped it off and started doodling away! The chalkboard is almost 3 years old and it’s held up wonderfully. The best part is I can re-paint it any time I want!

After our tummies were filled with delish pizza and watermelon, we headed out to the theater.
We saw Rio 2 and it was so cute! Great for a weeknight movie, not too long (moms need to know this!). The kids loved it!
