Hey there! It’s April now, so regardless of what the weather is in your neck of the woods, there’s no denying that Spring is here. A new season means new decor (for me anyway) and that’s exactly what I’ve been working on.
I use the term ‘new’ loosely. You know I rarely buy ‘new’ stuff, but for all intents and purposes, here is my ‘new’ Spring Centerpiece, made up of not-so-new things, of course.
This had to be the easiest centerpiece I’ve ever put together. Lets break it down, shall we?
First things first, ya gotta have some sort of a foundation (I just made that rule up).
I made this table runner last year using fabric glue, thick ribbon, and 3 yards of burlap:
1. Cut your material to size, fold down the edges, and press it down with an iron to hold in place.
2. Add the fabric glue along all sides, and place the ribbon on it–firmly pressing down all the way around. Let it dry. Done!
These ‘cloches’ were originally used on my winter mantel.
I added Spanish moss, votive and pillar candles. So simple!
I placed them on either side to anchor the centerpiece.
In the middle I used a white charger I already had (from Walmart) and placed a glass candlestick and a tube vase. In the vase I threw in some moss balls (from Michael’s) for more natural color.
The bright white charger, crisp glass, green moss, and burlap really bring nature in. This combination works with my dining room well and I can probably leave it through the Summer if I choose!
Blends well with the dark wood table, and white accessories in the background.
Since I’m going for bright shades of Spring in the living room this year, I thought I’d keep the dining room fresh and natural to contrast.
If you can’t get enough of Spring decor (then you are very much like me), come back next week to check out my wreath tutorial and Spring Mantel!
Do you repurpose items for your centerpiece?
