Hi there!
I spent the weekend working on this updated version of my wood plank sign, for a customer (YES, my first shop sale– “happy dance!”).
The first one I’d made for myself has the verse Joshua 24:15 on it, and it hangs over my front door. The custom sign was to be a much longer bible verse, Jeremiah 29:11, so this baby was more than twice as big as the first one I’d made.
I was up for the challenge! It was actually a great experience to get to work on this wood plank sign for my first sale! I found myself repeating the verse Jeremiah 29:11 over and over again to make sure I was stenciling it properly, and that it fit on the planks, etc.
I can’t think of a better way to spend my day than sanding, staining, painting, and reciting God’s word!
{Click here, for a tutorial on how I made the first one. Keep in mind that this one was made with sturdier materials and much neater tactics, this one after all, wasn’t for me!}
As I mentioned, this version was more than twice as long as the first. The first wood plank sign took all of 9 planks; 7 for the wording, and 2 to secure them together (in the back).
This new custom wood sign required 16 planks and 11 in the back to make sure it stays secure and will hang properly.
I loved working on this and know I can make more easily. I’m thinking of different ways to lay the planks (vertically?) and different phrases, verses, fonts, colors, etc. Seriously having so much fun creating them in my head!
This one is sold, but I will be listing it at my shop, and of course taking custom orders as well!
What phrase or scripture would you add to a wood sign?

Sorry. I forgot to ask! I don’t know if I’m a no-reply blogger (still). I’ve tried fixing it, but don’t know if it worked. If you could either reply (which means I fixed it) or contact me via Twitter (@kitchenventures) I’d be super grateful! Thanks!

I lo.v.e. your signs! My biggest decision was where to put the sign on Pinterest board, FAITH (where it ended up), crafts, re-purpose….. I’m thinking of trying my hand at doing subway art type signs and Jeremiah 29:11 is one I want to do. Have you ever thought about doing it on canvas, or just plywood? I think I’ll go with pre-stretched artist canvas I already have.
