Shamrock Shake– This homemade version of a spring time favorite is sure to tempt your tummy! Not just delicious, but this recipe is also lactose friendly for those who are looking to enjoy a Shamrock treat while keeping your stomach healthy and happy. Make one for dessert or any time at all!
St. Patrick’s Day is almost here, and for me there is no better way to celebrate than by sipping on a creamy, minty, and super yummy Shamrock Shake. It’s been hard to enjoy this treat because of my slight lactose intolerance, but I made a delicious at-home version of our fave shake,it’s even great for those of us with sensitive tummies! Recipe is below!
Shamrock Shake
I love Shamrock Shakes but I need to proceed with caution. I can’t say that I am officially “lactose intolerant”, but I know that every time I drink cow’s milk I end up with a sour stomach. Because of that I have stayed away from milk for years.
I will have other dairies such as ice cream, etc. but I cannot handle a glass of milk without discomfort. My husband and kids seem to be okay with it so the practice at my house has been regular milk for them, almond milk for mom. a2 Milk® has made things a little easier for me.
The A1 protein is the culprit behind ‘Post-Dairy Digestive Discomfort,’ and currently in all conventional & organic milks on the U.S. market. a2 Milk® only comes from heirloom a2 cows, ‘the way mother nature intended.’ a2 cows naturally produce milk free from the A1 protein. a2 Milk® is the pure replacement to chemically processed alternatives.
Good news though, the a2 Milk Company ™ has partnered with U.S. family dairy farmers in upstate New York and the Midwest to expand the heirloom a2 herd. I didn’t even realize that the A1 protein was to blame for my tummy troubles! It’s a relief to know that I can drink cow’s milk again with my family.
a2 Milk® is great in a tall glass, but it’s also perfect for recipes! That’s why I used it in my Shamrock Shake and so far no tummy issues whatsoever. That makes this mama happy!
This shake is tasty, and if you can handle lactose, then add some ice cream to it for even more creamy goodness..mmmm!
I like the look of light green for my shake, but if you prefer a deeper hue, just adjust the amount of food coloring.
I love this recipe because it’s made with farm fresh a2 Milk® so those of us who have ‘self diagnosed’ with lactose intolerance issues or Post-Dairy Digestive Discomfort can enjoy it without feeling sick afterwards. That, and it’s really, really good!
Do you have to avoid milk to keep your tummy troubles from brewing? If you’re “lactose intolerant” how can you use a2 Milk to make your life easier?
