I don’t have a big craft room or even a large space to work on my projects. Most are made in my garage or on my crafting table which is really a chalkboard table in my kid’s playroom.
I grab supplies from my craft closet on the other side of the house, and make the long haul to the table. I don’t have the room to have a designated space for creating, like most we do what we can with what we have, right?
After what seems like several hundred trips I can finally sit down and work on my project! I’ve been meaning to come up with a solution for a long time, so with the new year upon us, I thought there is no better time to get started! Michaels has a slew of products to help get me organized, like this adorbs desktop organizer from Jetmax. It has alot of storage yet it’s still small enough to keep in the middle of the table. This way I can have my most needed craft items on hand when I am working. Less trips to the craft closet!
Painting the Desktop Organizer
After 2 coats of chalky finish paint was mostly dried, I went over the whole thing with the Mod Podge.
I love the vintage, shabby look, and with chalky finish paint, there is no need to prep, it adheres to most surfaces perfectly..yes!!
Now this plain white organizer has gone from functional to stylish in just a couple of hours. Better yet, I get to stop the supply hauling madness from one end of the house to the other!
If one of your resolutions is to recreate, reorganize, or even just spruce up your craft space but you’re sick of the typical containers and boxes – here are some more cool and creative DIY storage ideas that might help!
