We’re just about to embark upon gift giving season, and I’m already thinking about what to get the very picky teens and tweens in our family. Cash usually does the trick but I don’t really want to give them another Christmas card that will end up who knows where. So this year I got creative and put the money in a jar! I used a mason jar to hold the cash, and added some tasty holiday treats!
Mason Jar Gift: A Creative Way To Give Money as a Gift
This was so simple to put together! Gather up your materials and make one to give out to your friends and family!
Materials:
Mason jar of any size
Empty toilet paper roll
1/8 yard of festive fabric
Sharp scissors
Glue (any type)
M & M’s (I picked out the green, red, and yellow ones)
Baker’s or Jute twine
Step 1: Cut a small square out of the material, enough to go all the way around the roll once, secure it with glue.
Step 2: Place the roll in the center of the jar, and holding it steady, fill the area around it with the M&M’s (try not to get them inside the roll).
Step 3: Cut a circle out of the rest of the fabric (I folded it in half, cut out a half circle, and then unfolded it).
Step 4: Place the inner lid onto the top of the jar, top with the fabric, then screw the other part of the lid on.
Step 5: Add a cute little tag to it! I made mine, punched a hole to the top and tied it around the mason jar lid with Baker’s twine.

The teen or tween in your life will love the fun surprise inside the mason jar! Mason jars are one of my top favorite crafting tools, they are so versatile, seriously you can do so much with them! I think the only thing I haven’t done with a canning jar is, canning! HA!
It’s never too early to start gift planning for the holidays. What handmade gifts will you be putting under the tree this year?
