I am so excited to share a cute little DIY Teacher Gift that I whipped up in just about an hour! I decorated a terra cotta pot and filled it with items that my son’s teacher will need all year long, Sharpie and Expo markers, and Uni-Ball pens. She will never have enough of these products and I am happy to contribute to her supply stash any way I can!
DIY Sharpie Teacher Gift
You can make this DIY Sharpie Teacher Gift in little time, follow these directions:
Materials:
Terra Cotta pot
Sharpie in your color of choice (I went with metallic gold)
Die cut machine (I used my Cricut) to make the adhesive lettering (+vinyl sheet and mat)
Fabric flowers
Hot glue gun / glue stick
To fill the pot: I purchased a pack of Uni-Ball pens, Expo Neon Window Dry Erase markers, and an 8 ct. assorted Sharpies.
Directions:
Step 1:
I bought a traditional terra cotta colored pot, so I pulled out a can of gloss white spray paint sprayed a quick coat. You can opt to purchase a white (or any color you like) pot, or paint it like I did.
Step 2:
While that is drying, design and cut out your lettering. I chose a casual modern font for the ‘Mrs.’, and a block font for the ‘T’, but you can definitely get creative here!
Step 3:
Next, add a dot of hot glue to the bottom ends of the Sharpie markers (not the caps), and press a single fabric flower onto it.
Continue on all of the Sharpies.
Step 4:
Once the pot is fully dry, add the adhesive vinyl to it, next using your Sharpie of choice, go over it in one direction. Let it set for a few seconds, then go over it in the opposite direction, almost creating a ‘weave’ pattern. I also went over the lip in the same pattern.
Step 5:
Give it another minute or two to fully set and then peel the vinyl off.
Step 6:
Fill with the flowered Sharpies, Uni-Ball pens, Expo markers, and any other filler you like!
I bought all of the products at Office Depot, where I get most of my office supplies! Head over to Office Depot or Office Max and save $5 Off your purchase of $20 or more on Select Newell Rubbermaid Brands (PaperMate, Expo Neon Window Markers, Sharpie, Uni-Ball, & Mr. Sketch)–SWEET!
Teachers give so much of their time and knowledge to our kids, and in many cases they go far beyond the call of duty. They deserve to feel appreciated for their hard work! I know my son’s teacher will love this personalized gift. She can use it in the classroom for years to come, or she can take it home actually plant something in it. There are many different options, I just know she can treasure this gift for years to come!
