Slimfast 14-Day Slimdown
So many of us struggle with weight loss, am I right? We are so busy with our families, jobs, housework, etc. that we tend to forget about taking care of ourselves. I know I am so guilty of that. I want to make time to exercise, eat right, get enough rest, etc., but with a jam packed schedule it can be so hard. I’ve talked about this here on the blog before-my struggles to keep it all together, including keeping my sanity. I cannot. for. the. life. of. me. lose the last 10 lbs. of my pregnancy. May I remind you that my son is 6 1/2. YEARS, not months. I have been thinking about it quite a bit lately–what is it that I am doing now that I didn’t do before I had him? Sure I was almost a decade younger, and I had more time for ‘me’, but I still had a husband, stepkids, job, etc. So what gives? After quite a bit of thought I realized that there are times when I am happy with my body. ‘Extra’ weight and all. So I dug deep–what is different during these sporadic times? Then it hit me. When I am well rested, and when I take time to take care of myself–go for a long walk, or workout, eat well balanced meals, snack healthily, and try to stress less, I feel great, I am more confident, and I am happy with my body. I also realized that although I can’t drop the last dreaded 10, I haven’t gained any more than that. I have accomplished actually maintaining my weight for so many years. So the last two weeks I’ve been on a mission to try to take care of me–from the inside out. Not necessarily to ‘lose’ weight (although hey, I’m not against it!), but to practice all those things that make me feel good, and give me a positive body image, starting with the Slimfast 14 Day Slimdown.
I started to incorporate a few healthy habits into my daily routine:
Healthy Habit #1:
Drink More Water!
I could easily have skipped the word ‘more’ in that last sentence. I am horrible at drinking water, especially with so many tasty alternatives out there. I started my mornings with a glass of ice water with the juice of 1/2 lemon. After a few days, my skin looked more supple, and I saved a bunch of empty calories. Double score.
Healthy Habit #2:
Eat well!
I am one of those coffee for breakfast, and nothing else till dinner gals. If you live like this, believe me you are not doing yourself any favors–according to everything I read online that is a surefire way to bring your metabolism to a screeching halt. Ugh. So I planned out my meals. I tried to keep lunch and dinner at 300 calories or less, and dinner about 500. I snacked on Slimfast Greek Yogurt and Honey Snack Bars, and lots of fruit. The Slimfast bars are only 110 calories, and they are really tasty! I had 2 of those a day, plus 2 pieces of fruit for a total of 3 snacks, and 1 piece of fruit for dessert.
Healthy Habit #3:
Get moving!
Exercise. Duh. Sounds like a no brainer, but honestly it’s a huge reason why most of us struggle. My problem was that for me it was an all or nothing deal. If I didn’t have time to dedicate to a spin class (my favorite way to blast ell-bees back in the day), then I did nothing. That’s a BIG FAT LIE that we feed ourselves (all puns totally intended) to justify our lack of exercise. I started to take the dog on walks for 30, 40, 15, however many minutes I could spare. I also threw in a few 30 minute video workouts (YouTube has zillions), when I could. The key is to do it when you can, but try to be consistent. And for goodness’ sake, DO NOT STRESS if you can’t dedicate hours at the gym. Stress keeps you fat, true story.
TWO WEEK RESULTS:
I slowly incorporated these habits into my routine over the last 2 weeks. I wasn’t perfect at it, but I didn’t beat myself up when I slipped either. I lost about 3 lbs. Which is a success at about 30% of my goal, but more importantly–I felt good about my body more consistently than even before. It wasn’t as sporadic as it used to be at all. That’s a huge win for me!

I plan on continuing my plan as much as I can. I may not always be able to stick to the calorie count, but I will definitely try. Just a few small adjustments can really make a big difference!
