Thank you Kleenex for sponsoring this post!
I think I blinked and it went from Christmas to March, just like that! Time is sure flying by, spring will officially be here in just a few days! I thought it was time to brighten up the guest bath to bring a little ‘spring’ indoors! The bathroom wasn’t necessarily bad before, just a little crammed, and tiresome. Time and budget are always limited so I shopped my house for some ‘new’ accessories and added a DIY Shower Curtain, made from a drop cloth!
Use a stylish Kleenex Box to Accessorize!
I gave the bathroom a fresh coat of white paint. Officially the color is Polar Bear from Glidden, but let’s face it…it’s a pretty shade of white. I took a couple of old Ikea shelves that I had in the garage and hung them up. Then I added a couple of accessories such as a an old nautical picture, a charger that I picked up at the Cricut Explore launch event (painted blue), and a cute box of Kleenex. I don’t know if you’ve taken a look at Kleenex lately, but they have the cutest styles now! I love the design I chose for this shelf, it works with the neural palette I’m going with, and of course you can never have too many boxes of Kleenex, am I right?
This is a 3/4 guest bath, so it basically consists of a toilet, pedestal sink, and shower. It’s a small space, and that is one of the reasons why I want to make it as light and neutral as possible in there. There is a tiny space between the sink and toilet that is perfect for this chippy corner shelf. My neighbor gave it to me (love her) and I love it! I am still accessorizing that spot but it works really well to hold supplies like hand soap, extra rolls of toilet paper, and more Kleenex boxes!
Directly across from the toilet is the shower. I hung a ‘curtain’ about an inch from the ceiling to draw the eyes up and make the room look larger. I used a drop cloth (6×9) for this because there is no shower curtain on the planet long enough to hit the ceiling and still drape a little on the floor!
Instead of using clips to hold the drop cloth like I did with this one in my living room, I simply pierced holes into the fabric with sharp scissors and pulled regular shower curtain hooks through it. Really, really easy! The hardest part of this entire project was having to spread the drop cloth on my living room floor to iron out the creases (I did a terrible job ironing by the way). There isn’t an ironing board on the planet large enough to handle it either!
Small changes can make a big difference in any space. Even using non traditional items to decorate like stylish Kleenex boxes can add style, and bring the season indoors, in this case, spring!
