I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Dove. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.
Hey friends! Have you noticed that during the holiday season most of us don’t have time to care for our appearance as we normally would? Is it just me? :) With the hustle and bustle of the season, it’s easy to forget to take care of our looks (Christmas cookies anyone?). I looooove make up and wear it almost daily, however, during this time of year I want to keep my beauty routine as simple and easy as possible, and during this season, as cost effective as I can. I use natural products as much as possible, like these 5 ‘beauty items’ I can’t live without!
Top Five Natural Beauty Tips I Can’t Live Without
Olive Oil for Smooth Skin and Hair
Before bed, I slather a small amount of extra virgin olive oil with a cotton ball over my face and neck. Especially around the mouth and eyes, you know where the first lines tend to show up when you least expect it. I also like to add a couple of drops of olive oil to the ends of my hair at night. I drink a full glass of water and wake up hydrated and with smooth, and more even textured skin. This REALLY works for me. A good night’s sleep helps a lot too :)
Vinegar Hair Rinse
After rinsing my hair in the shower I add apple cider vinegar to it and leave it on for a few minutes. Once it’s rinsed and dried, my hair is shiny and very soft. Give it a try!
Dove Clear Tone Deodorant
Like I mentioned a few weeks ago I have been using Dove Deodorant for years and I love it! Dove Clear Tone Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant is designed to reduce red and dark marks in just two weeks, while also providing moisturizers to replenish skin after our daily shaving routines. Dove is formulated with Calendula and Sunflower Seed Extracts, and accelerates the natural skin renewal process to help restore our skin to its natural tone (get more info at the Dove Facebook and Twitter pages).
Baking Soda for Whiter Teeth
A couple times a week after my morning coffee, I sprinkle some baking soda over my toothpaste and brush my teeth as usual. The taste takes a bit to get used to, but I notice a difference usually right away. Super fast and easy tooth whitening!
Baby Powder for In Between Shampoos
When you have as much hair as I do, and a lot of length at that, washing and blow drying can take an eternity. I try to wash and blow dry every 2 days, but sometimes..especially during the madness of the holiday season, I will admit to skipping a day. Or two. Perhaps three. How do I keep it from looking like a grease-ball? I sprinkle a little baby powder on my hands, rub it into my roots and crown, and brush it out. The corn starch in the baby powder absorbs the excess oil, buying me a couple more days of laziness. I mean ‘busyness’.
A few simple household staples can really save some cash, and help you get great results! Do you have these items in your cupboards? Take a few minutes and experiment this weekend, see how they work for you!

Stacia, it goes away really quickly. I can never smell it after my hair is dry at all. Good luck!
