My little guy wants to be a superhero this year. We’re still considering which one specifically but he loves Batman, so I was inspired by this PB Kids costume to make a fun treat bag to accessorize the ensemble!
I shopped my closet for a tote bag and found one in the perfect shade of blue. I knew it’d be ideal to hold all of his treats this Halloween! You can DIY your Halloween Treat Bag too, it’s so simple! Follow this easy tutorial..
DIY Halloween Treat Bag
Materials:
Tote bag {any size, old or new will do}
Embellishments {or appliques, vinyl, stickers, etc.}
Fabric decoupage medium
Decoupage brush
Directions:
Step 1:
You may already have embellishments or appliques you want to use. I didn’t so I made them with my Cricut machine:
I used the DC Comics cartridge to come up with this cool logo, and some wording pertaining to Superheroes.
I was unsure as to whether to use the grey bat inlay with the yellow oval, or vise versa. I ended up going with that because it made the most sense to me at the time. I can use the other set for something else down the road!
The yellow is just craft paper, and the grey is vinyl. It’s what I had in my craft stash, and it worked great!
Step 2:
Position the embellishments on the tote as you want them to look.
Step 3:
Using the brush, put a light coat of the decoupage on to the back of the embellishment and place them on the tote, gently smoothing it out with your fingers.
Step 4:
Add a light coat of the decoupage on top. Allow to dry for a couple of hours, then add another one or two coats. Let dry overnight.
Step 5:
{optional}
Take your little superhero out to fill their treat bag with lots and lots of candy!
There are so many options! I suggest checking out Pottery Barn Kids, choose the costume you like, and ‘shop” your closet and cupboards for common household items that would make the perfect accessory to a PBK costume. Use your imagination to make wands, swords, or anything else that will work with your child’s costume!
If you like it, ‘pin’ it so you can make it too!
What does your child want to be for Halloween?
