The Thanksgiving leftovers are long gone, and thus so went my fall mantel…to make way for a new Winter Mantel, of course!
Once again, I’ve taken the ‘shopping around my house’ option, with just a couple of things added here and there. Overall the look is simple and clean, playing off of the various shades of blue in the rest of my living room, and adding splashes of red.
Use inexpensive mason jars filled with candy canes and acrylic (or plastic) clear beads for a touch of whimsy! I simply tied red ribbon and strips of blue damask patterned fabric onto the mouths of the jars for contrast.
I made this JOY sign a few weeks ago {come back for the tutorial in a few days}.
These are 9 year old stockings from Ikea! They were in great shape, so I used the 2 red ones as is, and recovered a navy one in striped fabric.
I had some left over wood chargers from a couple of projects (see here and here), so I simply sprayed them silver and turned some vases upside down to create an easy DIY cloche. They hold extra ornaments quite nicely. For an added touch of winter, I sprayed the glass with a little faux snow.
That ‘Merry Christmas’ sign is from Home Goods {my friend Emily’s gift to me last year}!
These wood pillars came from an estate sale, and were also used in my fall mantel. This time I added striped candles from Walmart!
If you may remember the centerpiece I made this summer, I re-purposed the bottles and added a fun winter message!
I placed them on the hearth. Behind the bottles are some branches from my yard, sprayed silver, thrown in a floor vase, with a piece of fabric wrapped around it. Easy-peasy!
I used thrift store stocking holders (ahem, originally from Restoration Hardware), and added some of the damask fabric inside instead of pictures.
Finally, to add another splash of color, I made a very simple bunting out of the red and white striped fabric remnants {from the stocking} and twine {easy tutorial here}.
I’d been dreaming this winter mantel up in my head since early fall! But I definitely do not want to lose focus on what my family celebrates the most this season, Christmas.
Have you started decorating for the holiday season yet?
Come back again soon to see the rest of my Christmas/Winter decor!
