Hey friends! Can you feel it?? Fall is here! Am I getting ahead of myself? Although the weather isn’t quite Fall like around here, I’m ready to get my seasonal decor on!
This weekend I made a wreath for my front door. Best part is that I didn’t even have to make a trip to the store. When it’s 90+ degrees outside that alone is a victory! I had no idea what I wanted to do, but I knew I’d get some sort of inspiration from my craft stash.
Here’s what I came up with:
A twine wreath from the Dollar Store, left over from Christmas.
Fabric scraps from various projects I’ve worked on over the last year.
Scissors
Hot glue gun
Jute
Clothespins
Acrylic paint
How to make a Fall wreath using scrap fabric:
Wrap the wreath in burlap strips (or any thick fabric)
Place strips of printed fabric on one side for a little character.
Add some fun bunting!
{Easy way to make a bunting!}
- Print out your letters in the font of your choice, and cut them out. Cut out triangles to size (I used drop cloth scraps).
- Trace the letters onto the fabric, fill in with a Sharpie or paint pen.
- Fold the top of the triangles over the jute and hot glue in place.
Using some green acrylic paint I had lying around I painted the clothes pins, and glued one to each top corner to hold the bunting.
My local grocery store has been selling scented pine cones for a couple of weeks already, I took some I had around the house and hot glued them to the bottom right. In my ‘fall decorations’ bin, I also found some faux yellow leaves, so I glued those on as well!
All that was missing was some thick ribbon to hang it on my front door. I was out of luck there.
In keeping my very strong desire to not get in my car and drive anywhere, I decided I’d paint the last drop cloth strip with dark yellow acrylic paint using a foam brush. Hot glued it on; instant ‘ribbon’!
Hung it outside right away!
Love how the fall colors work with the blue, black, and dark red on my porch!
Have you started to decorate for Fall yet?
I’m scouring Pinterest for front porch decor. Oh can’t wait till the I can buy some pumpkins! Come back to see what I come up with!
