Pledge:
As a kid in school every morning, before roll call, before homework check, before studies, was the Pledge of Allegiance. A daily declaration of our country’s founding values. We pledged our loyalty to our country, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all, one nation under GOD.
It’s been many moons since I had to recite the Pledge, but like many of you, I still can–without reading it, and at the drop of a hat. I take it to heart, every single word.

Reminisce:
Our country isn’t what it was when I was a kid, which as a child of the 80’s, isn’t all that long ago. Perhaps back then I saw the world through rose colored glasses, in my innocence and desire for everyone to ‘just get along’. I don’t know.
As a first generation American, I was taught to value the gift I was given of being born in this great country. This remains the land of the free and the home of the brave. Although I now understand what corruption, violence, prejudice, and other evils are, I am still so proud to say that I am an American!
Pray:
I pray that our country returns to its godly values, I pray that children are taught to pray for this land, cherish and care for it. I pray that the Lord blesses us with continued prosperity as a whole, and to keep His hand over us, protecting our shores.
Celebrate:
So as our nation turns 236 this year, I once again declare my pledge of allegiance to this great land; one nation under GOD, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.
Have a blessed holiday!
