Vintage is in. Distressed pieces made to look old and worn are actually very contemporary these days.
My favorite way to incorporate the vintage look in my home is to combine it with modern pieces like this nightstand I’ve recently painted and lightly distressed, to con you into thinking it’s older than it is. Similar to say, a fake I.D, if you will. From what I hear, that is.
I LOVE the look of glass knobs on a distressed piece. But the knobs can range in price from $4-15 a pop, and mostly for acrylic knobs. Um, I don’t think so!
So in true cheap chick frugal fashion I went on the hunt to find a way to recreate this look for a fraction of the cost. ‘Peanuts’ was actually my goal. I went to Walmart, where I can usually find something that I can make in to something better, but all they had were these satin stainless steel knobs at $2 for 2.
So I took my trusty E6000 glue and glued these babies on to the plain old stainless knobs.
I know they aren’t actually ‘glass knobs’, but hey they really create a similar look for a grand total of $4 for 3 knobs!
I love this look! I use this nightstand as an entry table and this jeweled lovliness greets me every day!
LOVE! Thrifty LOVE!

You are a genius! I was looking at glass knobs the other day and choked on my own spit when I saw the price. I can’t even remember why I was looking at them now. Probably blocked out all ideas of ever using them. Thanks for sharing such an awesome idea!
