DIY Carpet and Soapscum Miracle Cleaner
I have soap scum. And carpet stains. Other housekeeping issues too, but those are undeniably at the top of my list of things that irritate me the most (I lie, it’s really laundry, but these two are close runners up). I’m always looking for something to help me conquer these enemies once and for all, tons of effort and many dollars later, zilch.
One night I was so sick of not having something that worked for me, I decided to experiment with some stuff I already had at home. This is an easy and dare I say, miraculous formula to remove soapscum. Head on over to your under the sink storage and grab some Dawn dish soap (I used the blue kind) and white distilled vinegar.
How to Make Your Own DIY Soap Scum Remover
Mix equal parts of each in a spray bottle, the mixture turns into a gel.
Spray all over the tub and tile and walk away (this can take a minimum of 30 minutes, or longer if desired).
Go back and wipe it all off with a sponge, and rinse it off.
Run a bath and enjoy your tub!
Tonight, when I accidentally burned the bottom of the rice pot (whoopsey-daisy), I sprayed this mixture on it and let it sit for a couple of hours, and just softly went over it with a sponge, and it came right off!
I know carpets are cleaned with steam so I thought adding some heat would work..
DIY Carpet Stain Remover
You’ll need:
A bottle of ammonia
An iron
Hot water
An old towel
Mix the hot water (nuke about 30 seconds), with equal parts of ammonia.
Spray the mixture liberally over the stain and throw the towel over it.
Go over the towel with a hot iron for a few seconds.
Lift the towel up to see that the stain has transferred from your carpet (or rug!) to the towel. AH.MAYZE.ING!
